What makes anyone think that if we pick 16 teams for a playoff, there won't be just as many sour grapes by the #17-20 teams who missed the cut? There is a berth for each of the major conferences. What do you do about the Big 10 that has Michigan St., Ohio St. and Wisconsin all tied for the conference title?
How did it ever get so f#$&^$^ important to know who is "#1"?? And because the 16 seed beats the 1 seed in the first round, does that mean they are the best team throughout the year? This is silly. Play out the year and crown the conference champions and end the season there. Or, maybe just have some "for fun" bowl games between conferences like the old days.

Tax Cuts - What to do.....
Make the tax cuts permanent, then raise taxes later. Why is this so hard???
We've all become used to the tax rates as they are with the "tax cuts" so, conceptually, they are now the "normal" taxes. Re-baseline the frigging taxes at the current rates, then raise them as necessary next year and or the year after, etc.
Are all congressmen morons??

Airport Security Uproar
Let us not forget what caused most of this airport screening nonsense in the first place. Until we insist that world leaders discuss issues on the basis of reality rather than some made up deity, we will be forever protecting ourselves from each other. It is far easier to manipulate a group of people based on leadership defined beliefs than on a rational view of what is best for humanity and the environment. Until we eliminate the supernatural we will never be able to have realistic discussions about how all humanity can live together in peace. As long as we approach our neighbors with a "my god is better than your god" attitude, we will continue to lose more freedom under the veil of "protection".

Unsolicited Glossy Catalogs
Lillly's Kids
Hammacher Schlemmer
Bits and Pieces
Catalog Favorites
Young Explorers
North Style
Museum Tour
That's just a list of unsolicited catalogs that arrived TODAY!! Where do these people get our name and address? How much does it cost to print and mail each catalog? How many people have to order something to make up the cost of printing and mailing? What percentage of landfills or the recycling stream is made up of these catalogs?
I know people with a product to sell have to make potential buyers aware of the product, but is this really an effective way of doing it? Apparently; we've been getting these catalogs for years. I guess it keeps the USPS in business. And, if it weren't for these catalogs, where else could you get a pair of magnifying spectacles for only $99.95? How about a Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Booster that plugs into a DC outlet and increases mileage by 18% for only $79.95?

To Seal or Not to Seal??
An article in the October issue of "This Old House" described several ways to stop air infiltration into your house. In the very same issue, there was an article describing how many homes are too air tight and you need to install ventilation fans to exchange stale (polluted) inside air with fresh outside air. Ummmmm..... how about leave a little natural infiltration and skip the fans and save some $$.

Let's Eliminate Poliltcal Advertisements!!
Yes folks, it will finally be over tomorrow. There isn't anyone I've talked to who isn't sick of the political advertisements running constantly on the radio and TV. Furthermore, there isn't anyone that I know who is sucked in by the half-truths, innuendos and false promises expressed in the ads.
I suppose there are some people with half a brain that vote based on what they hear in these political advertisements, which is very scary indeed.
Fortunately, I have a solution for the people who are sick and tired of the advertisements as well as the morons who make decisions based on hearing them: Next year, every time you hear a political ad on a TV or radio station, do NOT tune in to that station again till after the election. If we can significantly reduce the number of people watching/listening, real advertisers will demand lower rates because of smaller audiences and the stations will refuse to play political advertisements because they reduce advertising rates and overall revenue.
Yes, I know it's hard to give up World Series and NFL games as well as Dancing with the Stars and Grey's Anatomy and whatever else floats your boat, but I'll bet we can band together and figure out a way to get through 6 weeks without them.
Let's try to build some momentum in 2011 and really make an impact in 2012!!
